In a special ceremony, Chuck Lanehart was honored to be recognized by the Mayor and City of Lubbock Council.

WHEREAS: Chuck Lanehart is a very successful criminal lawyer who’s been practicing in Lubbock since 1977 after graduating from Texas Tech University’s School of Law. Chuck has represented more than 200 homicide cases throughout his outstanding career, and has earned the reputation as a tremendous and honorable attorney; and,

WHEREAS: Chuck’s curiosity, passion for his community, and fervor for history leads him to write his Caprock Chronicles series in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, a history column that digs deep into the history of all facets of West Texas. Chuck informs and entertains West Texans about our rich and fascinating history, ensuring we all understand our past as we head into the future; and,

WHEREAS: It is fitting to recognize Chuck, a proud and native Texan, for excavating and preserving Lubbock’s history and offering it to everyone. Chuck has turned his passion into a weekly series that benefits everyone, and we’re grateful for all the time and effort he gives to inform us about new and exciting subjects. Chuck’s bleeding passion for history shines through the pages of Lubbock’s Caprock Chronicles as he researches and writes about early settlements, music, food, notable citizens, cultural significances, impactful moments, and much more in West Texas.

NOW, THEREFORE, we the Mayor and City Council of the great City of Lubbock do hereby recognize Chuck Lanehart
