On Dec. 4, 1967, university employee – Sarah Alice Morgan was killed by Benjamin Lach, a Texas Tech student. The gruesome murder occurred in Tech’s Science Building, a day before the annual Carol of Lights.
Most chilling, the aftermath and trial that led to a short time in jail for a brutal murderer. Ultimately, Lach served 15 years of a 40 year sentence and is still alive to this day.
