Chuck Lanehart Represents Texas Tech Student Charged in Officer Death
19-year-old Hollis A. Daniels III has been held on $5 million bond for a capital murder charge and a federal weapons theft charge. If convicted, Daniels could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
Lanehart released a statement on October 16th as the defendant’s attorney and spokesperson. The statement expressed remorse and grief for the death of Officer Floyd East, Jr.
Daniels is accused of stealing a weapon, shooting and killing a university police officer on the night of October 10, 2017. He was a freshman at Texas Tech University and from Seguin, a town 40 minutes east of San Antonio. Learn more about the defendant’s personal life, published in MySanAntonio
